Our client is an elite boutique investment bank with a strong reputation for advising founders, families, and financial sponsors on complex sell‑side M&A and strategic transactions. The firm is continuing to invest in growth and is expanding its Industrials group in Chicago.
They are seeking to hire an Investment Banking Associate to support continued deal flow and work closely with senior bankers on high‑impact transactions. The role offers significant client exposure, responsibility, and the opportunity to work on headline‑quality mandates in a lean, high‑performing environment.
The Role
The Associate will play a critical execution role across active M&A mandates, with a particular emphasis on sell‑side transactions. Associates work directly with Managing Directors and Vice Presidents and are expected to take ownership of key workstreams throughout the deal lifecycle.
Responsibilities include:
- Financial modeling (3‑statement models, operating models, DCFs, LBOs)
- Valuation analyses and transaction structuring
- Preparation of marketing materials (CIMs, management presentations, buyer lists)
- Due diligence coordination and data room management
- Interaction with clients, buyers, and counterparties
- Mentoring and reviewing work of Analysts
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a strong investment banking foundation and thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Required Qualifications
- Currently a 1st‑year Investment Banking Associate, or a top‑performing 3rd‑year Analyst ready for promotion
- Investment banking experience at a bulge bracket, elite boutique, or strong upper‑middle‑market firm
- Meaningful sell‑side M&A experience (process‑driven transactions strongly preferred)
- Excellent financial modeling and valuation skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams
- Clear, professional communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Industrials coverage experience (e.g., manufacturing, distribution, building products, industrial services) preferred but not required
- Experience working in lean deal teams with direct senior banker exposure
- Demonstrated interest in long‑term banking career at a boutique platform
