About the Opportunity
A well-capitalized investment platform is seeking an Investment Associate to join its New York-based structured credit team. The role focuses on evaluating and managing investments across asset-based finance, specialty finance, and securitized credit markets.
This is an opportunity to work within a lean, collaborative team where Associates receive meaningful responsibility and direct exposure to senior decision-makers. The position offers involvement across the full investment lifecycle, from underwriting and execution through portfolio monitoring and ongoing investment management.

Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate investment opportunities across asset-based finance, specialty finance, and structured credit markets
- Conduct detailed collateral analysis and assess underlying asset performance
- Build and maintain cash flow models for structured and asset-backed transactions
- Analyze transaction structures, waterfalls, credit enhancement mechanisms, and downside scenarios
- Review offering memoranda, legal documentation, servicing reports, and diligence materials
- Support transaction underwriting, structuring, negotiation, and execution
- Prepare investment recommendations and present findings to senior investment professionals
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging credit risks
- Maintain market coverage across specialty finance originators, investment banks, and structured credit issuers
- Work with large, complex datasets to evaluate performance trends and key investment drivers
- Assist with portfolio analytics, surveillance, and reporting initiatives
- Identify opportunities to enhance research, modeling, and portfolio management processes
Ideal Background
The team is interested in professionals with approximately 3-5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Esoteric ABS investing
- Asset-based finance
- Specialty finance
- Structured credit investing
- Securitized products investment banking
- ABS capital markets or structuring
- Warehouse lending
- Structured lending
- RMBS or related securitized products
- Structured finance ratings
- Credit-focused buy-side investing
Candidates with adjacent structured products experience and a demonstrated interest in asset-backed investing will also be considered.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant investment, banking, or structured finance experience
- Strong understanding of securitization structures and collateral-based lending
- Experience analyzing structured transactions and evaluating credit risk
- Advanced financial modeling and cash flow analysis skills
- Strong Excel proficiency
- Familiarity with Intex or comparable structured credit analytics tools
- Experience working with asset-level data and large datasets
- Knowledge of transaction waterfalls, credit enhancement, triggers, and covenant frameworks
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- High attention to detail and strong ownership mentality
- Intellectual curiosity and genuine interest in structured credit investing
