Head of Compliance (m/f/d) - FinTech - Berlin/Frankfurt
Your Role
As Head of Compliance, you will lead the compliance function for a dynamic fintech company specializing in digital business loans for SMEs and self-employed individuals. In this role, you will own the full compliance framework, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of integrity and risk awareness across the organization.
You will manage a team of 4-5 compliance professionals and work hands-on across all compliance topics, including GDPR, financial crime prevention, KYC/KYB, and outsourcing oversight. This is a mid-to-senior level position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to make a tangible impact.
Your Responsibilities
- Define, implement, and maintain the company's compliance strategy and framework
- Oversee GDPR compliance and data protection measures
- Manage financial crime prevention, including AML, KYC, and KYB processes
- Ensure compliance with applicable German and EU regulations for business lending
- Act as Responsable du Contrôle for our Luxembourg entity (if applicable)
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on business operations
- Prepare and maintain compliance policies, manuals, and documentation
- Lead and develop a team of compliance professionals, providing guidance and training
- Report regularly to senior management and relevant governance bodies
- Drive continuous improvement and efficiency within compliance processes
Your Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory roles within fintech or lending (consumer/business)
- Broad understanding of compliance topics (GDPR, AML, KYC/KYB, outsourcing)
- Hands-on leadership experience with small teams
- Strong knowledge of German and EU regulatory frameworks relevant to lending
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance detail and big-picture thinking
- Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
