Director, Operational Excellence
Location: Remote (Candidates must reside in the Greater New York City area)
Travel: Up to 30% throughout the Northeast Region
Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + Bonus + Long-Term Incentive Opportunity
A rapidly growing professional services platform is seeking a Director of Operational Excellence to lead enterprise-wide performance improvement initiatives across a portfolio of firms throughout the Northeast. This is a highly visible leadership role focused on driving EBITDA growth, margin expansion, cash flow improvement, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will partner directly with senior leadership, managing partners, COOs, and functional leaders to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and create measurable business impact.
This is not a traditional operations management or project management role. We are looking for a hands-on transformation leader who can analyze business performance, diagnose operational challenges, develop actionable improvement plans, and personally lead implementation efforts through measurable results. The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple businesses and drive accountability without direct authority.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead operational excellence and business transformation initiatives focused on profitability, working capital, cash conversion, and margin improvement.
* Identify root causes of performance challenges and implement sustainable solutions that improve financial results.
* Partner with executive leadership teams to drive accountability, execution, and enterprise value creation.
* Lead initiatives related to operating model redesign, finance transformation, workforce optimization, technology enablement, and performance management.
* Utilize data-driven insights and strong P&L expertise to influence strategic and operational decisions.
Ideal Background
* 8+ years of experience in management consulting, operational transformation, business transformation, performance improvement, or senior operational leadership roles.
* Demonstrated track record of delivering quantifiable EBITDA, margin, productivity, or working capital improvements.
* Strong understanding of P&L management and the operational drivers of service-based businesses.
* Experience leading initiatives from diagnosis and strategy development through implementation and sustained results.
* Proven ability to influence senior executives and stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
Preferred Experience
* Alvarez & Marsal, AlixPartners, FTI Consulting, Deloitte, EY, PwC, KPMG, MBB, or similar consulting environments.
* Private equity operating groups, portfolio operations, or value creation teams.
* Professional services organizations including accounting, consulting, legal, or advisory firms.
* Operational excellence, business transformation, practice management, or portfolio operations leadership experience.
