Debt Originations Associate

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the evaluation, underwriting, recommendation, and origination of new investment opportunities.
  • Interface with external counterparties including borrowers/partners, brokers, lenders, attorneys, and third party vendors.
  • Fully underwrite and structure prospective investment opportunities with minimal oversight.
  • Define key transaction risks and propose appropriate structures to mitigate defined risks.
  • Draft, structure, and negotiate term sheets.
  • Prepare recommendations, credit memos, and presentations to Investment Committee.
  • Manage the closing and documentation process with minimal oversight.
  • Perform property visits and meet with borrowers and/or partners.
  • Continue investment asset management from origination to disposition.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or BusinessAdministration required.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in the Commercial Real Estate sector. Exposure to debt origination or direct equity investment preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, required. Advanced financial modeling skills preferred.
  • Exposure to Commercial Real Estate research platforms such as CoStar, REIS, and Trepp preferred.
  • Robust understanding of real estate and credit fundamentals. Ability to perform advanced real estate and market analysis and to conduct market research.
  • Energetic self-starter who is flexible, organized, proactive, and detail oriented.
  • Willingness to work hard in a demanding and highly focused environment.
  • Strong professional writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, including with team members in other locations.
  • Travel required.
