OVERVIEW:
A well-established aerospace and manufacturing company is seeking a Senior Financial Controller for a full-time, direct-hire opportunity based in Hollywood, Florida. This high-impact leadership role will serve as a strategic partner to the General Manager and provide financial oversight and support to senior leadership across the organization.
The Controller will be responsible for implementing and managing financial processes across revenue, expenditures, inventory, purchasing, payroll, and month-end closings. This role requires close collaboration with administrative staff to ensure accurate processing within the company's ERP systems and compliance with internal accounting policies, GAAP standards, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and ensure timely and accurate month-end close, including journal entries, operating reports, and account analysis.
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial schedules for corporate reporting.
- Develop tax schedules for internal and state-level compliance.
- Drive the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting.
- Manage fixed assets and support capital expenditure planning.
- Review inventory for obsolescence and excess in line with company policy.
- Supervise and mentor a Junior Staff Accountant.
- Support corporate finance with consolidation and internal control activities.
- Collaborate with Internal Audit to maintain SOX-compliant financial controls.
- Conduct semi-annual system access reviews for subsidiary employees.
- Oversee cycle counts and annual inventory audits.
- Serve as primary check signer for subsidiary disbursements.
- Provide financial and operational insights to improve cost control and efficiency.
- Maintain and refine cost accounting policies and standard costing procedures.
- Partner with operations leadership to analyze production metrics, margins, and sales trends.
- Develop and manage internal and external reporting tools.
- Utilize advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, graphs, etc.) for data analysis and presentation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent education/experience.
- Strong preference for candidates with Cost Accounting expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA is a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to engage across all levels of the organization.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex scenarios with limited standardization.
