Title - Controller Advisory Services
Location - Remote with targeted hiring focus in New York and Chicago
Travel Expectation - Approximately 25 percent travel to client sites
Comp - Base salary range of 175k to 250k depending on experience

Overview
We are working with a public accounting firm that provides controller level advisory services to a diverse client base across manufacturing, SaaS, fintech, and healthcare. This role is focused on delivering interim and project based controller support, helping clients stabilize, professionalize, and scale their accounting and finance functions during periods of growth, transition, or disruption.

The individual in this role will work directly with clients in short term engagements ranging from one week to approximately two months, partnering closely with ownership, finance leadership, and operations teams to get businesses back on track.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an interim controller or senior finance advisor across multiple client engagements
• Evaluate accounting processes, internal controls, close cadence, and reporting structures and implement improvements efficiently
• Lead clean up and transformation initiatives including month end close acceleration, reconciliations, process documentation, and financial statement preparation
• Provide hands on leadership to client accounting teams, including day to day oversight and coaching as needed
• Act as a trusted advisor to founders, CFOs, and executive leadership by translating accounting and operational challenges into actionable guidance
• Support business development efforts by assisting with proposals, engagement scoping, and client pitches
• Collaborate closely with partners and advisory teams to deliver high quality client outcomes

Ideal Background

• Experience within a public accounting firm, ideally providing advisory or outsourced controller services
• Proven interim controller experience supporting multiple clients or short term engagements
• Industry exposure within manufacturing, SaaS, fintech, or healthcare
• Ability to step into underdeveloped or challenged finance functions and rapidly improve structure and reporting
• Comfortable in client facing environments with limited ramp up time
• Experience bidding for business and expanding client relationships
• Strong communication skills with finance and non finance stakeholders
• CPA preferred
• Career background primarily outside of fund accounting, financial services, or banking
• Ability to manage multiple engagements independently
• Willingness to travel as required
