Compliance Director

A fast-growing financial technology firm is in the process of establishing a Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF) in the Netherlands. The firm provides innovative trading and lifecycle management solutions for OTC derivatives and structured products, and is now expanding its regulatory footprint in the EU. They are seeking a highly experienced and strategically minded Director to lead the regulatory licensing process and establish a robust compliance framework for a new Amsterdam-based MTF.

The Role:

• Lead the end-to-end process of obtaining an MTF license from the AFM
• Serve as the primary liaison with the AFM and other relevant regulatory bodies
• Design and implement a comprehensive compliance framework aligned with MiFID II, MAR, AMLD, and other applicable EU regulations
• Develop internal policies, procedures, and controls to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
• Advise the board and senior leadership on compliance risks and regulatory developments
• Build and lead the compliance function in the Netherlands, including hiring and mentoring future team members
• Oversee regulatory reporting, audits, and risk assessments
• Act as the nominated Compliance Officer

The Candidate:

• 8+ years of experience in regulatory compliance within financial services, ideally with experience in trading venues or investment firms
• Deep understanding of MiFID II, MAR, AMLD, and the Dutch regulatory environment
• Prior experience leading or supporting a similar license application in the EU
• Strong relationship management skills with regulators and internal stakeholders
• Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are a plus
• Based in or willing to relocate to Amsterdam
