Business Development Associate, Financial Institutions
Selby Jennings has been engaged by a $50 billion AUM banking platform based in Dallas to identify an Associate for their Business Development team. This Associate plays a key role in strengthening relationships with the CFOs of middle market financial institutions and expanding the group's market presence. This position is responsible for growing sales of investment products, including fixed-income securities, private placements of subordinated debt, loan participations, and other market-driven financial instruments.
Success in this role requires proactive client engagement through phone calls, emails, virtual meetings, board presentations, in-person visits, and participation in industry events and conferences. Travel is expected to comprise 10% to 20% of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Strategically manage assigned accounts to increase market share and meet individual sales goals.
- Effectively communicate investment opportunities through various channels, including virtual and in-person interactions.
- Represent the firm at industry events and conferences to build brand awareness and expand the client base.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in fixed-income financial markets or business development within financial institutions.
- Strong knowledge of fixed-income investment products.
- FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses (or ability to obtain).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations.
- Strong relationship-building and client management skills.
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to manage and grow a portfolio of business.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with Salesforce.com.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg and financial market data tools.
- Ability to effectively engage and communicate with senior-level executives.
- Understanding of bank balance sheets.
