Role Overview
As a Business Data Analyst at this leading insurance firm, you'll play a pivotal role in bridging business needs with technical solutions. Your work will span requirements gathering, data analysis, system evaluation, and stakeholder engagement to drive operational excellence and support strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Discovery & Documentation Partner with stakeholders to understand business objectives, translate them into actionable technical and functional requirements, and produce clear documentation for development teams.
Process & Data Optimization Analyze current workflows and data pipelines to uncover inefficiencies, improve data quality, and streamline operations.
SQL Database Monitoring & Troubleshooting Conduct proactive reviews and queries of SQL databases to detect issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure system reliability.
Cross-System Research & Diagnostics Investigate performance metrics across APIs, servers, and cloud infrastructure using tools like CloudWatch, S3, and database logs to identify and resolve operational concerns.
Scenario-Based Analysis Execute targeted queries and assessments to address specific business challenges, such as transaction load balancing or patient data matching anomalies.
Workflow Mapping & Visualization Develop and maintain process diagrams and data flow charts to illustrate current and future-state operations, supporting clarity and alignment across teams.
Solution Design & Technical Recommendations Evaluate system enhancement opportunities, including database schema updates, logging improvements, and workflow adjustments to meet evolving business needs.
Testing & Quality Assurance Support user acceptance testing and validate system changes to ensure alignment with business and technical specifications.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Act as a liaison between business units, IT teams, and external vendors to facilitate clear communication and successful project delivery.
Change Enablement & Training Contribute to user documentation, training initiatives, and adoption strategies for new systems and processes.
Continuous Improvement Monitor system performance and user feedback to identify improvement opportunities and support long-term business growth.
What You'll Need
5+ years of relevant experience in business systems analysis or a related field
Strong SQL skills and experience working in B2B database environments
Advanced Excel capabilities for data organization and reporting
Proven analytical skills with the ability to synthesize insights from diverse data sources
Experience in process modeling, data flow diagramming, and requirements documentation
Familiarity with cloud platforms and monitoring tools (e.g., AWS, CloudWatch, S3)
Excellent communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences
Solid understanding of SDLC and project management methodologies
