About the Role
The Vice President in Private Equity plays a pivotal leadership role within the investment team, contributing deeply to the sourcing, evaluation, execution, and oversight of portfolio investments. Reporting to Managing Directors or Partners, the VP oversees end-to-end deal processes and actively mentors junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Sourcing & Execution
* Build and maintain relationships with investment bankers, intermediaries, and company management to source investment opportunities
* Evaluate potential deals by developing investment theses, conducting financial modeling, valuation analysis, and risk assessments
* Lead due diligence efforts, coordinating third-party advisors and internal teams across legal, finance, and operations
* Structure and negotiate transaction terms, orchestrate financing, and oversee legal documentationPortfolio Management & Value Creation
* Monitor portfolio company performance and collaborate with management to implement strategic, operational, and financial improvements
* Prepare investor and internal reports, including quarterly and annual financial updates and valuation reviews
* Serve on portfolio company boards or management committees, driving transformative initiativesLeadership & Mentorship
* Mentor associates and analysts, fostering their growth through training, review sessions, and skills development
* Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, compliance, operations, and external advisors throughout deal lifecycleStakeholder & Investor Engagement
* Maintain and build relationships with LPs, co-investors, bankers, and industry stakeholders
* Contribute to fundraising and investor communications, as needed
Required Qualifications
Experience & Education
* 5-7+ years of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, strategy consulting, or leveraged finance
* Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or related field; MBA or CFA preferredTechnical & Analytical Skills
* Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and cash flow forecasting skills with expertise using tools like Excel, Bloomberg, Capital IQ
* Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting principles, and deal structuringSoft Skills & Attributes
* Proven leadership and communication capabilities-effective across all levels of organization
* Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills
* Entrepreneurial mindset, high integrity, drive for results, and attention to detail
