Position Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Turnaround and Restructuring Originator to join its corporate restructuring team. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying and originating opportunities related to distressed companies, as well as driving restructuring strategies that align with the financial and operational objectives of our clients. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong background in corporate finance, insolvency, restructuring, or distressed M&A, with the ability to build relationships, originate new business, and lead complex restructuring engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development & Origination:

    • Source, originate, and develop relationships with potential clients, including distressed companies, financial sponsors, lenders, and investors.
    • Identify new turnaround and restructuring opportunities in the market and provide proactive solutions to distressed clients.
    • Develop a pipeline of restructuring mandates by leveraging personal network, industry knowledge, and market research.
  • Turnaround & Restructuring Strategy Development:

    • Lead the development and execution of restructuring strategies, including financial restructuring, operational turnaround, debt negotiations, and distressed M&A.
    • Assess the financial health of distressed companies, analyze financial statements, and design appropriate turnaround plans.
    • Work closely with senior leadership to structure and execute complex restructuring transactions, ensuring alignment with client goals.
  • Client Relationship Management:

    • Serve as the main point of contact for clients and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., lenders, creditors, management teams).
    • Understand clients' unique challenges, provide strategic advice, and work toward solutions that deliver optimal results.
  • Cross-functional Team Leadership:

    • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, tax, financial, and operational experts, to provide integrated solutions for clients.
    • Manage and supervise teams working on restructuring engagements, providing guidance and mentorship as needed.
  • Market Analysis & Thought Leadership:

    • Monitor market trends, industry conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact distressed companies.
    • Contribute to internal and external thought leadership materials, including white papers, presentations, and market insights.
  • Transaction Execution & Documentation:

    • Coordinate and lead the execution of distressed transactions, ensuring that all deliverables are met within agreed timelines.
    • Oversee the preparation of financial models, restructuring proposals, and other key documents for clients and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CFA preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in turnaround and restructuring advisory, distressed debt investing, or corporate finance.
  • Proven track record of originating and executing restructuring mandates, with a deep understanding of corporate bankruptcy, distressed M&A, and financial restructuring.
  • Strong financial modeling, analysis, and valuation skills.
  • Deep understanding of the restructuring landscape, including bankruptcy procedures, debt negotiations, and distressed asset sales.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with clients, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Turnaround Management (CTP) or similar credentials is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and restructuring software.
  • Familiarity with distressed debt platforms and bankruptcy court processes.

Compensation: Base salary: $300,000
