TMT Investment Banking Associate | Bulge Bracket
Selby Jennings is partnered with a Bulge Bracket Investment Bank looking to add Investment Banking Associates to their Technology Team. This San Francisco office is home to the Head of Tech M&A and Head of Tech ECM, as well as other Managing Directors and bullpen. This group operates as Technology generalist, but has core focuses across Software, Internet, Emerging Technology, AI, and Semiconductors/Hardware.
Ideal candidates are Investment Banking Associates with 2+ years of experience at Middle Market, Bulge Bracket, or Elite Boutique, with Technology Investment Banking experience preferred, but not required. Additionally, ideal candidates are located in or open to relocating to San Francisco to build a career in Tech Coverage.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Execution & Analysis- Lead core workstreams across live M&A, ECM, and DCM transactions.
- Build, review, and own complex financial models (3‑statement, LBO, M&A accretion/dilution, SOTP, trading/transaction comps).
- Perform detailed valuation analyses and industry research to support recommendations.
- Manage data rooms, due diligence processes, and coordination between clients, buyers, counsel, accountants, and internal teams.
- Prepare and deliver high‑quality client materials including pitchbooks, strategic reviews, and market updates.
- Develop a deep understanding of client businesses, competitive landscapes, and sector dynamics across key technology verticals.
- Support senior bankers in idea generation and new business development.
- Provide structured mentorship, training, and quality control for Analysts.
- Work closely with partners across M&A, LevFin, ECM, research, and product teams to ensure seamless execution.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years in Investment Banking (preferably Technology coverage or M&A).
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex processes and deliver under tight timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with a client‑ready presence.
- High level of maturity, attention to detail, and commitment to teamwork.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; MBA a plus but not required.
- Existing knowledge of technology business models (SaaS metrics, transaction KPIs, unit economics, hardware and semis fundamentals) strongly preferred.
