We are supporting an international, fast‑growing financial services organisation with a strong European presence in their search for a motivated VAT Associate to join their expanding tax team in Frankfurt. The company is known for its dynamic environment, diverse business lines, and commitment to continuous improvement across its global operations. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly skilled group of tax advisors, accountants, and legal experts while playing a key role in shaping the organisation's indirect tax landscape across Europe.
In this position, you will be part of a collaborative EMEA VAT function that partners closely with business units, internal stakeholders, and external service providers. The role focuses primarily on German VAT matters, while also offering exposure to a broad range of cross‑border VAT topics throughout EMEA. Your Responsibilities

  • Provide VAT advisory support to various internal business lines, including areas such as banking, commodities, asset management, and wealth management.
  • Review and oversee VAT compliance processes for Germany and selected EMEA countries, in coordination with external providers.
  • Collaborate with the broader EMEA VAT team, tax technology specialists, and outsourced partners to drive digitalisation, implement tax technology tools, and enhance analytic capabilities for VAT-related work.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and optimisation of the VAT control framework, ensuring strong governance, risk management, and a constructive relationship with tax authorities.
  • Work closely with internal finance, operations, and workplace service teams to ensure correct VAT coding within payment systems, financial applications, and general ledger structures.
  • Support balance sheet reconciliation activities, including the substantiation of VAT accounts prepared by external providers.
  • Deliver ad‑hoc support on operational and product‑related tax matters for a wide range of internal stakeholders.

Your Profile

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in indirect taxation within a financial services environment or a consulting/practice firm.
  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in VAT advisory and compliance management.
  • Ideally, a formal tax qualification or similar certification.
  • Solid understanding of German VAT legislation and practical exposure to VAT topics across other EMEA jurisdictions.
  • Highly organised, attentive to detail, and able to manage complex processes while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proactive mindset with strong analytical thinking, a collaborative approach, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced international environment.
