Our client is expanding their Accident & Health Stop-Loss team and seeking a highly skilled, analytical, and strategic underwriting professional for a Senior Medical Stop-Loss Underwriter position-fully remote.
About the Role
In this senior-level role, you will be responsible for underwriting both new and renewal Medical Stop‑Loss business across a diverse national portfolio. You'll partner closely with producers, clients, and internal teams to deliver competitive, profitable underwriting solutions.
This position also includes leadership responsibilities, with direct reports and opportunities to influence team best practices and development.
What You'll Do
- Underwrite new business and renewals for Medical Stop‑Loss with a focus on profitability, accuracy, and client alignment.
- Perform risk assessment using detailed claims experience, large‑case data, and comprehensive group analyses.
- Utilize Connecture extensively for modeling, rating, and analytics-heavy prior hands‑on experience is required.
- Work collaboratively with brokerage teams to shape client strategy and present market‑competitive options.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to underwriting staff; assist in workflow optimization and process improvements.
- Maintain strong carrier relationships and ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines.
Required Experience
- Medical Stop‑Loss underwriting experience (broker, MGU, or carrier background).
- Demonstrated expertise underwriting both new and renewal business.
- Strong, hands‑on Connecture experience required.
- Experience underwriting self‑funded and level‑funded groups.
- Prior leadership or management experience (formal or informal) with the ability to oversee direct reports.
- Exceptional communication skills, analytical strength, and comfort operating in a remote environment.
