Senior Manager of Payments Risk
A leading global financial institution is seeking a Payments Risk Professional to join their team in Dallas. This individual will serve as a key risk advisor to the Payments business, helping strengthen first line risk frameworks across payments products, cash management solutions, liquidity services and more.
Key Responsibilities
Payments Risk & Control Leadership
- Lead the execution and enhancement of first-line risk management programs supporting payment products, treasury services, cash management offerings, and related operational functions.
- Partner with business leaders to establish effective controls that address operational, compliance, technology, and third-party risks.
- Provide risk advisory support throughout the product life cycle, including new product development, product enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
- Challenge and assess key business decisions through a risk lens while supporting commercial growth objectives.
Operational Risk Management
- Oversee Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), ensuring risks are appropriately identified, measured, and mitigated.
- Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), operational loss trends, control effectiveness metrics, and remediation activities.
- Facilitate scenario analysis exercises and support assessments of emerging operational risk exposures.
- Drive continuous improvement of risk governance processes, documentation standards, and control frameworks.
Payments & Change Management
- Act as a risk partner for payment modernization initiatives, system implementations, and strategic transformation efforts.
- Participate in governance committees and working groups supporting payment products, treasury management services, and operational infrastructure.
- Evaluate risks associated with new technologies, payment capabilities, and process changes.
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments are completed for new initiatives and significant business changes.
Third-Party & Regulatory Risk
- Support vendor and third-party risk management activities, including risk assessments and ongoing oversight.
- Partner with Compliance and Legal teams to assess regulatory impacts on payments products and related business activities.
- Assist in regulatory examinations, audits, and issue remediation efforts.
- Support implementation of policies, procedures, and controls designed to meet evolving regulatory expectations.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships across Product Management, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Enterprise Risk functions.
- Present risk-related insights and recommendations to senior leadership and governance committees.
- Serve as a subject matter resource on payments-related operational risk matters.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience within financial services, payments, treasury management, operational risk, product risk, compliance, audit, or related disciplines.
- Strong understanding of payments products, cash management services, liquidity solutions, treasury services, or transaction banking operations.
- Experience leading risk assessments, control evaluations, issue remediation, and risk governance activities.
- Knowledge of operational risk frameworks, RCSAs, KRIs, incident management, and regulatory compliance programs.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate effectively across multiple business lines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting commercial payments, treasury services, transaction banking, cash management, or payment operations functions.
- Familiarity with payment rails and industry developments, including ACH, Wires, RTP, FedNow, and other modern payment systems.
- Background in operational risk, enterprise risk, audit, regulatory compliance, or first-line risk management.
- CAMS, CRISC, CISA, CRCM, PMP, APRP or similar professional certifications are a plus.
