Senior Investment Engineer

About the Hedge Fund

Next-generation hedge fund redefining capital allocation through the power of machine learning, data science, and decentralized collaboration. Investment strategy is driven by a global network of data scientists who contribute predictive models to a meta-model that guides our portfolio. We operate at the intersection of finance, AI, and engineering-building systems from first principles to create a more intelligent, automated, and scalable investment platform.

The Role

As a Senior Investments Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining the systems that power trading operations. You'll work closely with research, finance, and data teams to ensure seamless trade generation, execution, and reconciliation. This is a high-impact role where engineering excellence directly influences fund performance.

You'll be responsible for architecting robust, scalable systems that handle real-world trading complexities, integrating with external data providers and brokers, and automating manual processes across the trade lifecycle. You'll also help define and track key business metrics, ensuring the health and performance of our trading infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the trading pipeline infrastructure-pre-trade, execution, and post-trade.
  • Collaborate with researchers to translate model outputs into executable trades.
  • Automate manual processes and build resilient systems to handle edge cases (e.g., corporate actions, short availability, market-specific rules).
  • Design and implement integrations with brokers, custodians, and data providers.
  • Build internal tools and dashboards to monitor fund performance and operational health.
  • Lead technical projects from design to deployment, ensuring high standards of reliability and performance.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and mentor other engineers.
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, operations, and compliance to align technical systems with business goals.

Example Projects

  • Build a fault-tolerant trade execution engine that integrates with multiple brokers and handles real-time feedback.
  • Design a system to manage and reconcile corporate actions across global markets.
  • Develop a scalable framework for onboarding new data/API providers with minimal friction.
  • Create a metrics platform to monitor fund health, counterparty risk, and operational KPIs.
  • Package alpha signals into separately managed accounts and custom investment products.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably in a trading or financial systems environment.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining trading systems (front, middle, or back office).
  • Strong systems design and debugging skills; ability to reason about performance, reliability, and edge cases.
  • Excellent written communication skills-able to produce clear design docs, specs, and post-mortems.
  • Experience with financial data APIs, FIX protocols, or broker integrations.
  • Familiarity with Enfusion or similar portfolio/trade management systems is a strong plus.
  • Passion for finance, machine learning, and decentralized systems.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a hedge fund, asset management, or proprietary trading environment.
  • Background in data engineering or working with large-scale time-series data.
  • Language Agnostic
  • Exposure to machine learning workflows or model deployment pipelines.
  • Understanding of global market structure and trading regulations.

Offer

  • Competitive compensation and equity.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems in finance and AI.
  • Collaborative, high-performance team culture.
  • Access to a global network of data scientists and researchers.
  • The chance to shape the future of capital markets.
