A leading multi‑strategy investment firm is building a next-generation data platform to support its research, risk, trading, and portfolio management functions.
We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to design and own the core datasets, pipelines, and data models that serve as the firm's single source of truth. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role building a scalable, reliable data foundation used across the entire investment organization.
Responsibilities
- Own and model investment data domains including security master, reference data, transactions, positions, holdings, exposures, P&L, and market data.
- Build and maintain scalable batch pipelines to ingest, cleanse, normalize, and reconcile data from multiple internal and external sources.
- Define and enforce data modeling standards, including normalization, dimensional modeling, partitioning, and performance optimization.
- Implement data quality checks, reconciliation logic, and lineage tracking across critical datasets.
- Develop reusable data APIs and data products for portfolio managers, risk teams, quant researchers, and other downstream consumers.
- Work closely with research, risk, trading, and engineering teams to deliver accurate, timely, and well‑structured investment data.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of full-time experience in data engineering or data architecture, coming from a hedge fund, trading firm, or asset-manager.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience building production‑grade pipelines and platforms using tools such as Snowflake, Spark, dbt, Airflow/Dagster, and AWS.
- Solid understanding of investment data structures including corporate actions, security master, transactions, positions, exposures, P&L, and performance.
- Strong grasp of data modeling, auditing, reconciliation, and performance tuning.
- Ability to communicate clearly with investment professionals, quants, and technical partners.
