Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Senior Consulting Actuary to join our team and play a key role in providing actuarial consulting services for large public pension plans. This role is crucial as we continue to expand our pension consulting division, particularly within the public sector. The Senior Consulting Actuary will be responsible for leading and working with clients, managing projects, and providing expert advice on pension plan design, funding strategies, and financial management. This position is ideal for an experienced actuary with a deep understanding of public pension plans and a track record of consulting experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage actuarial consulting projects for large public sector pension plans.
  • Serve as the primary client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic advice on pension plan design, funding, and financial management.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee the preparation of actuarial valuations, projections, and other deliverables for public pension plans.
  • Mentor junior actuaries and provide guidance on technical issues.
  • Work closely with the broader team, including healthcare actuaries and senior leaders, to address client needs across pension and healthcare.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on new business development, including identifying opportunities and responding to RFPs.

Qualifications:

  • FSA or ASA required.
  • 10+ years of actuarial experience, with significant exposure to public sector pension plans.
  • Proven experience in consulting with public plans, with Florida plan experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage client relationships and lead teams.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with pension plan funding strategies, actuarial valuations, and regulatory compliance for public sector plans.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Advanced proficiency in actuarial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
