Job Title: Senior Assistant Actuary - IFRS Valuation (Pension Risk Transfer Focus)

A leading life insurance organization is seeking a Senior Assistant Actuary to join its IFRS Valuation team. This individual will play a key role in the production, analysis, and review of IFRS reserves and related financial metrics-including Best Estimate Liabilities (BEL), Risk Adjustment (RA), and Contractual Service Margin (CSM)-with a particular focus on the pension risk transfer (PRT) business.

This role offers the opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert in valuation processes, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and enhance reporting frameworks. The position also involves designing and implementing strategic changes to valuation processes in response to organizational transitions.

Key Responsibilities:

Valuation & Reporting

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual IFRS valuation processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee the development and analysis of the IFRS Valuation Interest Rate (VIR), including asset review and stakeholder coordination.
  • Serve as the valuation lead for Investment Variance and Operating Profit analyses related to the PRT business.
  • Modify and implement IFRS reporting processes to align with evolving organizational structures.
  • Utilize Moody's AXIS and SQL to generate reserves and financial metrics, conduct model evaluations, and support regulatory disclosures.

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain and improve documentation of valuation procedures and controls.
  • Prepare and present management reports and audit materials to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Ensure model accuracy and compliance with control frameworks.
  • Identify and implement process improvements with broad business impact.
  • Collaborate with finance, IT, and external partners to enhance valuation systems and controls.

Leadership & Development

  • Mentor and guide team members as needed.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and promote a collaborative, purpose-driven, and straightforward workplace culture.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field.
  • FSA designation preferred; ASA with significant experience will be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of actuarial experience in life insurance or pension risk transfer, with a strong background in valuation.
  • Deep understanding of IFRS 17 and/or US GAAP frameworks.
  • Experience managing controlled production processes.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in actuarial software (Moody's AXIS preferred), Excel, VBA, SAS, and SQL.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to shifting priorities.
