Position Overview
A leading advisory firm is seeking a Director to join its Restructuring & Special Situations practice. This individual will play a key leadership role in managing complex turnaround, restructuring, and distressed situations for corporate and private equity clients.
The Director will be responsible for overseeing engagement execution, managing client relationships, and leading junior team members across a range of high-impact mandates. This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives, lenders, and sponsors, and requires a strong balance of financial, operational, and strategic expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day execution across restructuring and turnaround engagements, including liquidity management, business plan development, and contingency planning
- Oversee the development and review of 13-week cash flow models, integrated financial models, and restructuring analyses
- Advise clients on capital structure alternatives, liability management, and in- or out-of-court restructuring processes
- Manage stakeholder communications, including lenders, creditors, boards, and private equity sponsors
- Support distressed M&A processes, including divestitures, recapitalizations, and asset sales
- Provide guidance on cost reduction initiatives, operational improvements, and working capital optimization
- Review diligence materials and assess business viability, risks, and recovery scenarios
- Lead the preparation of client deliverables, including presentations, restructuring plans, and investor communications
- Mentor and develop junior team members while managing multiple concurrent workstreams
- Contribute to business development efforts, including pitch materials and relationship building
Qualifications
- 7-10+ years of experience in restructuring, or turnaround consulting
- Strong financial modeling skills, including liquidity forecasting and complex scenario analysis
- Experience working on distressed, special situations, or underperforming companies
- Familiarity with Chapter 11 processes, liability management exercises, and creditor negotiations
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead teams in high-pressure environments
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- High level of professionalism and ability to interface with senior executives and stakeholders
