P&C Reinsurance Pricing Actuary
A well-established global P&C insurance and reinsurance organization is looking to add a P&C Reinsurance Pricing Actuary to its growing U.S. actuarial team.
This position is based in Pennington, New Jersey, with hybrid or remote flexibility available.
Reporting to senior pricing leadership, this newly created position will play a key role within the U.S. actuarial function, providing Casualty reinsurance pricing support and analysis while contributing to a variety of strategic and project-based initiatives.
The organization operates across property, casualty, specialty insurance and reinsurance, including business within the U.S. excess & surplus (E&S) market.
What You'll Do
- Price reinsurance contracts across Casualty, Specialty, and other P&C classes
- Conduct profitability studies across various segments of the portfolio
- Maintain and enhance pricing models, parameters, and data tables supporting underwriting and rating methodologies
- Assist with reporting underwriting results to senior leadership
- Partner closely with underwriting, claims, technology, and other business functions
- Produce, interpret, and clearly communicate actuarial analyses supporting ad hoc and strategic projects
- Complete benchmarking studies using internal and external data
- Analyze claims trends to improve predictions of future outcomes
- Support the continued development of the actuarial pricing function and related business initiatives
- Contribute to broader actuarial and reserving projects, including claims inflation, reinsurance solutions, claims performance metrics, and reserving and loss trend analysis
What We're Looking For
- 3-8 years of experience within the P&C insurance and/or reinsurance industry
- Ideally 2+ years of experience pricing Casualty reinsurance contracts
- ACAS, FCAS, or meaningful progress toward actuarial credentials
- Strong understanding of reinsurance pricing, structures, terminology, and data
- Experience within P&C insurance or reinsurance, preferably with a focus on Casualty Reinsurance
- Programming experience with VBA, SQL, R, and/or Python preferred
- Strong actuarial and analytical capabilities
- Ability to effectively communicate pricing analyses and technical findings to both actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders
- Ability to leverage data and technology to solve business problems
- Proactive, hands-on, and adaptable approach
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
