Quant Researcher - Macro / Fixed Income / Relative Value
We're partnered with a top‑tier hedge fund in London to hire a Quant Researcher to work as the right‑hand person to a Senior Portfolio Manager within a macro / fixed income / relative value strategy. This is a high‑impact seat in a quant‑driven, semi‑systematic pod where the quant function directly supports idea generation, signal development, regime analysis, and trade/risk decisions.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys real proximity to risk and wants to combine rigorous research with the practicality of discretionary decision‑making, building tools and signals that genuinely shape the book.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Senior PM's quant partner, owning the quantitative build‑out and analytics for the pod.
- Generate and evaluate new alpha signals across macro markets (e.g., FX, rates, equity index futures, commodities), with a strong focus on FI/RV frameworks.
- Run robust backtests and regime / stress testing to assess performance across different market conditions.
- Apply ML / NLP techniques where appropriate to enhance signals, feature sets, and execution/risk insights.
- Build research and monitoring tooling that supports idea iteration, portfolio diagnostics, and risk oversight alongside the PM
Candidate Profile
- Experience in macro, fixed income, RV, rates, FX or cross‑asset quant research
- Strong quantitative foundations: time‑series, statistics, optimisation, econometrics.
- Excellent coding ability (typically Python; other languages a plus).
- Comfortable working in a semi‑systematic / discretionary environment: you can translate research into decision‑useful outputs and iterate quickly with the PM.
- Clear communicator, commercially minded, and thrives in a high‑ownership seat close to the investment process.
