Private Equity Associate, Real Estate
The Real Estate Private Equity Associate performs investment research and analysis for potential real estate investment opportunities in both debt and equity. Work involves performing due diligence of potential real estate investment opportunities and assisting with day-to-day monitoring and reporting of the investment portfolio. Real estate opportunities include investments in industrial, multifamily, office, hotels, retail, and other special situations. Target returns include core to opportunistic to special situation. Candidates expected to have knowledge of both debt and equity real estate. Candidate will work under general to limited supervision, with moderate to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position reports to the Managing Director of Real Estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicates analysis of investment opportunities, results, and recommendations with the relevant senior staff via verbal and written reports and presentations, including preparing qualitative and quantitative reports, memoranda, and spreadsheets
- Assists in performing due diligence research and analysis for potential private equity investment opportunities. Diligence research and analysis includes submarket and asset level research.
- Lead running detailed financial models, reviewing industry and submarket performance, conducting market diligence calls, running IRR scenarios, and modeling JV waterfall returns
- Assist in performing quarterly valuation for the existing portfolio
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience in:
- Real estate investment banking
- Real estate debt capital markets or syndication role
- Buy-side debt or equity experience at top tier real estate fund
- Real estate acquisition experience at a top tier operator
- Excellent academic record from a top tier undergraduate institution
- Self-starter who can work well in a small, growing team and highly entrepreneurial environment
- Highest degree of professional maturity and personal integrity
- Intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated interest in an investing career
