Private Equity Associate (New York)
Our client, a middle-market private equity fund, is seeking an Associate to join its New York-based investment team. The firm focuses on control-oriented investments in founder and family-owned businesses, with a strategy centered on building value through operational improvement and buy and build initiatives.
This is a generalist role with exposure across healthcare, business services, consumer, and industrials, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership across both new investments and portfolio company initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and execute control-oriented private equity investments across core sectors
- Build and analyze complex financial models, including LBOs and operating cases
- Conduct industry research, commercial diligence, and competitive analysis
- Support all aspects of transaction execution, including due diligence, financing, and closing processes
- Work closely with management teams and senior investors on portfolio company strategy and value creation initiatives
- Participate in portfolio monitoring, including performance tracking and strategic initiatives
- Assist with investment committee materials and internal presentations
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of total experience in investment banking or private equity
- Strong preference for candidates with exposure to healthcare, business services, industrials, or consumer sectors
- Experience from bulge bracket, middle market, or elite boutique investment banks, or relevant buy-side experience
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical skill set
- Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a lean team environment
- Undergraduate degree with a strong academic track record
