Job Title: Natural Gas Originator
Location: Houston, TX (4 days per week in office)
Job Overview:
A growing natural gas marketing organization is looking to add an experienced Originator to its commercial team. This individual will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, structuring and negotiating transactions, and expanding customer relationships across North American natural gas markets.
The team operates in a highly collaborative environment where success is driven by collective performance rather than individual books of business. This role offers significant exposure across trading, commercial strategy, and business development activities while providing the opportunity to help shape future growth initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and grow relationships with producers, utilities, marketers, industrials, pipelines, and other market participants.
- Identify, originate, negotiate, and execute physical natural gas transactions.
- Structure term supply, transportation, storage, and other commercial agreements that create value for the portfolio.
- Generate new deal flow and contribute incremental gross margin to the business.
- Evaluate commercial opportunities and determine appropriate risk-reward outcomes.
- Partner with traders, schedulers, operations, risk, legal, and senior leadership teams to move transactions through the approval process.
- Prepare financial and economic analyses to support strategic decision-making and transaction approvals.
- Participate in business planning, market strategy, and growth initiatives across the organization.
- Analyze completed transactions to identify best practices and process improvement opportunities.
- Travel as needed to strengthen customer relationships and develop new business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
- 10+ years of experience in natural gas origination, commercial development, trading, or related functions.
- Proven ability to originate and close structured natural gas transactions.
- Strong understanding of deal structuring, hedging, transportation, storage, and risk management.
- Experience working with NAESB agreements and other commercial contracts.
- In-depth knowledge of North American natural gas markets and infrastructure.
- Existing relationships throughout Midcon, Gulf Coast, Appalachia, or other major natural gas markets preferred.
- Current or prior physical natural gas trading experience is a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions in a fast-paced market environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate across functions and support broader business objectives.
