A growing U.S. based Investment Bank is seeking a Managing Director to join its team to establish their presences in teh Canadian market. The firm offers a people-first, fast-paced, and collaborative culture with ample opportunity for professional growth.
Position Summary
The Managing Director will play a key role in driving the firm's expansion into the Canadian market. This individual will lead the investment banking practice, focused on clients within the insurance and wealth management sectors. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining client relationships, leading the execution of engagements, ensuring services are delivered effectively and efficiently, and building out a team presence.
Responsibilities
- Lead the firm's business development efforts in the Canadian market, including building a robust pipeline of prospects and establishing a strong brand presence
- Serve as a senior ambassador for the firm by representing the platform at industry events, conferences, and through direct client outreach
- Originate new client engagements across M&A, strategic advisory, and financial consulting by developing and maintaining senior-level relationships
- Drive end-to-end transaction execution, including sourcing opportunities, leading deal processes, and overseeing successful closings
- Partner with U.S. leadership to define and execute the strategy for market entry and long-term growth in Canada
- Play a key role in building out the firm's local presence, including office development, hiring strategy, and operational infrastructure
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (MBA or relevant certifications preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, consulting, or a related field, with progressive leadership responsibility
- Strong understanding of Canadian financial markets
- Experience souring and executing deals within the Insurance and/or Private Wealth Space
- Demonstrated success in business development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce) preferred
