Our client is a leading hedge fund, renowned for its cutting‑edge technology organisation and scientific approach to solving complex challenges. They are now seeking an Linux Operations Engineer to join their global team, supporting a large‑scale, mission‑critical Linux on‑prem estate powering quantitative research and trading activity. This role puts you at the centre of a high‑performance Linux environment, supporting the platforms that power the firm's trading and research. You'll work hands‑on across high‑availability systems, automation tooling, and large compute estates, while partnering with engineers to enhance observability, reliability, and platform automation.
As part of the global infrastructure support team, you will play a key role in supporting, scaling, and enhancing the firm's Linux‑based trading and research platforms. Alongside day‑to‑day operational responsibilities, you will also contribute to major engineering initiatives, deployments, and improvements to automation and monitoring frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, support, and optimise Linux-based trading and research platforms in a high‑availability, performance‑critical environment.
- Deploy new infrastructure and manage end‑to‑end server build and provisioning processes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance automation, monitoring, and observability tooling, driving reliability and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and deliver long‑term stability improvements.
- Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and knowledge sharing within the global infrastructure group.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation and provide occasional out‑of‑hours (primarily remote) support.
Key Requirements
- 4+ years' experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, or Linux platform support within high‑availability environments.
- Strong Linux administration experience across Red Hat, CentOS, or Rocky Linux.
- Hands‑on experience delivering full server lifecycle builds, from hardware installation to OS deployment and configuration.
- Solid understanding of AMD and Intel server hardware, including troubleshooting and component‑level insight.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible).
- Scripting capability in Python and Bash to support automation and operational tooling.
