We're currently partnered with a leading U.S. financial institution looking to add a Vice President to their Oil & Gas Investment Banking team in Houston. The group is actively looking to make the hire and is open to considering both experienced Associates ready to step into a VP seat and current junior VPs looking for greater responsibility and senior-level exposure.
This is a particularly attractive opportunity for someone who wants to play a meaningful role on an active energy platform while working closely with senior leadership. The successful candidate will serve as a right hand to the group's Managing Director, taking on significant responsibility across deal execution, client coverage, and the development of junior bankers.
The Opportunity
The Investment Banking VP will work closely with the Managing Director and broader Oil & Gas team across M&A and strategic advisory engagements, helping drive transactions from initial pitch through closing.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading day-to-day execution of M&A transactions and strategic advisory assignments
- Working directly with the Managing Director on client coverage, pitches, and transaction strategy
- Managing valuation, financial analysis, transaction materials, and overall deal workflow
- Serving as a key point of contact for clients throughout live engagements
- Managing and developing Associates and Analysts
- Coordinating with senior bankers and other product and industry teams across the broader platform
- Taking on increasing responsibility for client relationships and business development as the VP progresses
Ideal Background
- 5+ years of investment banking experience
- Strong preference for candidates with Oil & Gas / Energy investment banking experience
- Demonstrated experience executing M&A transactions
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and transaction execution capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and junior deal teams
- Strong client-facing communication skills
- Currently based in Houston, TX, or genuinely interested in relocating to Houston
This could be an excellent fit for a 3rd or 4th year Associate who is ready for promotion to VP but may not have the immediate opportunity to make that move internally. The team will also consider junior VPs who want to join an active platform and work more closely with an MD.

Compensation
Base Salary: $275,000 + performance-based bonus
