As part of the continued growth of its market structure and systematic research capabilities, the firm is seeking to hire an Index Analyst in New York.
This is a highly visible role focused on identifying and monetizing opportunities created by index events, passive investment flows, ETF activity, and changing market structure dynamics. The successful candidate will work alongside portfolio managers, analysts, and traders, providing actionable research that directly contributes to investment performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze index events including additions, deletions, rebalances, reconstitutions, and methodology changes across major equity indices globally.
- Develop actionable trading and investment ideas arising from passive fund flows, ETF positioning, and index-related market activity.
- Conduct event-driven research focused on market structure dislocations and special situations created by index changes.
- Produce differentiated analysis on passive ownership trends, capital flows, liquidity dynamics, and benchmark-driven trading activity.
- Collaborate closely with investment teams to communicate opportunities and support trade implementation.
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers, index providers, sell-side research professionals, and other market participants to gather intelligence and generate investment ideas.
- Monitor developments across the ETF ecosystem and evaluate the impact of new products, regulatory developments, and market structure shifts.
- Present research findings and recommendations to senior investment professionals in a clear and actionable manner.
Candidate Profile
- 3+ years of relevant experience in:
- Index analysis
- ETF and passive flow analysis
- Event-driven research
- Equity strategy
- Market structure research
- Or a closely related field
- Strong understanding of global equity indices, passive investing, ETFs, and benchmark construction methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to identify alpha-generating opportunities from index and flow-related events.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skill set with the ability to translate research into actionable investment ideas.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in financial markets and market structure dynamics.
