Hedge Fund Chief Commercial Officer

Overview

We are partnering with a highly regarded and established hedge fund seeking to appoint a Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to play a key leadership role in the next phase of the firm's growth.

This is a senior commercial position responsible for helping shape and execute the firm's global fundraising strategy, supporting and enhancing an existing investor relations and sales function, and acting as a strategic partner to the executive team. The successful candidate will be expected to leverage an extensive network across institutional and wholesale investors while contributing broader business insight beyond pure capital raising.

The firm is particularly interested in individuals who bring experience from multiple areas of the asset management industry. While a strong fundraising and client-facing background is essential, candidates who have also spent time in disciplines such as portfolio management, investment research, operations, risk management, compliance, product development, or broader business leadership roles will be viewed favourably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and refine the firm's global commercial strategy across institutional and intermediary investor channels.
  • Partner closely with senior management and investment teams to identify and execute strategic growth initiatives.
  • Support and mentor the existing sales and investor relations team, helping maximise fundraising opportunities and improve commercial effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key institutional investors, family offices, consultants, private banks, wealth managers and other relevant allocators globally.
  • Identify new market opportunities, investor segments and distribution partnerships.
  • Act as a senior ambassador for the firm, representing the business at investor meetings, industry events and conferences.
  • Provide strategic input on product positioning, messaging and market expansion initiatives.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across investments, operations, compliance, risk and finance to ensure a cohesive commercial approach.
  • Contribute to broader business decisions regarding growth, infrastructure, product development and long-term firm strategy.
  • Monitor industry developments, investor trends and competitor activity, ensuring the firm remains well positioned in the marketplace.

Candidate Profile

  • Significant experience within asset management, alternative investments or hedge funds.
  • Proven track record of raising assets and developing senior investor relationships across institutional and/or intermediary channels.
  • Experience operating in a senior leadership or strategic commercial capacity.
  • Ability to engage credibly with investors, investment professionals and executive leadership teams.
  • Strong understanding of investment products, portfolio construction and capital allocation processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence business strategy beyond a purely sales-focused remit.

Preferred Backgrounds

The firm is particularly interested in candidates who combine fundraising expertise with experience gained in one or more of the following areas:

  • Portfolio Management or Investment Research
  • Product Strategy or Product Development
  • Investment Consulting
  • Chief Operating Officer or Operational Leadership experience
  • Compliance, Risk Management or Regulatory Leadership
  • Business Management within an investment firm
  • Investor Relations leadership within alternative investments

Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a strategic mindset.
  • High level of credibility and gravitas when engaging with sophisticated investors and senior stakeholders.
