Head of DA Pricing | Lloyd's Market
Selby Jennings are working with a fast-growing Lloyd's market insurer to appoint a Head of DA Pricing into a senior role within their pricing function.
This position plays a central role in shaping pricing strategy across a diversified delegated authority portfolio, working closely with underwriting, capital, and reinsurance teams. Reporting into senior pricing leadership, the role offers significant visibility and influence over portfolio performance, governance, and long-term growth.
Rather than being confined to routine pricing activity, this is a broad and commercially focused leadership role. You'll take ownership of pricing oversight for complex portfolios, contribute to reinsurance strategy, and act as a key partner to underwriting leadership. For the right individual, this represents an opportunity to help define best practice within a scaling delegated authority platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead pricing oversight for delegated authority portfolios across property and specialty classes
- Evaluate price adequacy, profitability, and performance at portfolio and segment level
- Deliver regular performance analysis, presenting insights to underwriting and senior management
- Provide strategic input into outward reinsurance structures, pricing, and effectiveness
- Partner with capital and modelling teams to assess risk and capital implications
- Conduct portfolio reviews to ensure alignment with agreed underwriting mandates and risk appetite
- Identify and recommend pricing, structure, or underwriting improvements to enhance performance
- Oversee pricing governance, reporting, and regulatory requirements
- Calculate and review performance-based remuneration mechanisms in line with contractual terms
- Develop and enhance analytical tools to improve data quality, exposure insight, and decision-making
- Lead and develop a small team of actuaries and analysts
Role Requirements:
- Qualified actuary
- Strong pricing experience within commercial insurance and/or reinsurance
- Demonstrated ability to combine technical analysis with commercial judgement
- Experience working with portfolio-based underwriting or delegated authority structures
- Confident communicator, able to engage underwriters, senior stakeholders, and non-technical audiences
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with SQL, Python, or R highly advantageous
- Proactive mindset with the ambition to lead, influence strategy, and drive continuous improvement
