Job Title: Financial Institutions Underwriter
Overview
The client is seeking an experienced Financial Institutions Underwriter to assess, underwrite, and manage risks associated with financial services organizations. This role plays a critical part in supporting profitable growth by evaluating complex financial institution risks, structuring coverage, and maintaining strong broker and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite financial institutions risks, including but not limited to banks, credit unions, asset managers, investment advisors, insurance companies, fintechs, and other regulated entities
- Analyze financial statements, regulatory filings, governance structures, and risk management practices
- Evaluate exposures related to professional liability, management liability, cyber, crime, and related coverages
- Determine appropriate pricing, terms, limits, and conditions in alignment with the client's underwriting guidelines and risk appetite
- Partner with brokers and internal stakeholders to develop tailored coverage solutions
- Negotiate terms and conditions to achieve balanced and profitable outcomes
- Monitor portfolio performance and proactively manage risk trends
- Stay informed on regulatory developments, market conditions, and emerging risks impacting financial institutions
- Support renewal strategies and new business initiatives
- Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-7 years of underwriting experience focused on financial institutions or management liability risks
- Strong understanding of financial institution operations, regulatory environments, and risk exposures
- Proven ability to analyze complex financial and qualitative data
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- Detail-oriented with strong judgment and decision-making capabilities
- Proficiency with underwriting systems and Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, RPLU, or equivalent
- Experience underwriting D&O, E&O, Financial Institutions Bond, Cyber, or related specialty lines
- Familiarity with domestic and/or international financial institution markets
