Director of Corp. Development & Investor Relations
Overview
Our client, a leading insurance organization, is seeking a strategic finance executive to lead its Corporate Development and Investor Relations function. This role is pivotal in shaping the company's growth strategy through M&A, capital markets activity, and investor engagement. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of analytical rigor, capital markets expertise, and executive presence to drive high-impact initiatives across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & Capital Markets
Develop and execute capital markets strategies to support enterprise growth, including debt issuance and funding structures (e.g., Surplus Notes, Senior Debt, FABNs).
Maintain and deepen relationships with institutional investors, banks, and rating agencies.
Monitor market trends and recommend financing strategies aligned with business objectives.
Corporate Development
Lead the end-to-end evaluation and execution of strategic transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
Build and refine financial models, conduct valuation analyses, and assess deal structures to optimize economic outcomes.
Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Actuarial, and Operations to ensure seamless diligence and integration.
Investor Relations
Own the investor relations strategy and communications for debt investors and rating agencies.
Prepare and deliver investor presentations, roadshows, and quarterly updates.
Serve as a key spokesperson for the company's financial performance and strategic direction.
Enterprise Strategy & Leadership
Provide strategic insights to senior leadership through financial analysis, market intelligence, and scenario planning.
Present recommendations to the executive team and board to inform capital allocation and growth strategy.
Champion process improvement and knowledge sharing across finance and strategy teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, capital markets, or investor relations.
- Strong command of financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring.
- Deep understanding of GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field; advanced degree or professional designation (CFA, CPA, FRM) preferred.
- Insurance or financial services experience strongly preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills and executive presence.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
