A well‑established hedge fund is looking to add a Director, Capital Formation & Investor Relations to their team. As the firm enters a strategic growth phase, they are seeking an entrepreneurial, relationship‑driven professional who can help formalize and expand their capital formation efforts. This individual will play a key role in deepening institutional engagement and building a scalable fundraising engine for the next phase of growth.
The Director, Capital Formation & Investor Relations will be responsible for:
- Developing and executing a strategic capital‑raising plan aimed at institutional allocators, family offices, RIAs, and other sophisticated investors.
- Leveraging prior experience and industry exposure to build and manage a robust fundraising pipeline.
- Pursuing creative capital formation avenues, including potential placement agent partnerships and strengthening external relationship networks.
- Engaging with prospective LPs, conducting outreach, scheduling meetings, and driving follow‑up to convert interest into commitments.
- Managing communication with existing investors, providing performance commentary, fund updates, and relevant reporting.
- Preparing, refining, and maintaining investor-facing materials including pitch decks, fund summaries, DDQs, and quarterly reports.
- Coordinating due diligence processes, including data requests, meetings, and documentation.
- Partnering with the investment, operations, and legal teams to ensure accurate delivery of information to investors.
- Monitoring allocator sentiment, competitor activity, and broader trends across the alternatives landscape to inform capital formation strategy.
- Helping shape and refine the firm's overall fundraising narrative and market positioning.
- Maintaining CRM systems, tracking investor interactions, and organizing pipeline analytics.
The Director, Capital Formation & Investor Relations should have:
- 6-8+ years of experience in investor relations, capital raising, institutional sales, hedge funds, private funds, or broader alternative asset management.
- Experience within or exposure to large, established fundraising environments, with an understanding of how best‑in‑class capital formation processes operate.
- Existing relationships or meaningful touchpoints with institutional allocators, family offices, RIAs, or other private capital channels (preferred but not required).
- Strong understanding of alternative investment strategies, performance analytics, and allocator evaluation frameworks.
- An entrepreneurial mindset and desire to help build a more structured capital formation function.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently represent a seasoned investment organization.
- Strong organizational and analytical capabilities; comfort owning multiple concurrent investor processes.
