A well‑capitalized, global investment platform is building a next‑generation equity multi‑strategy fund and is seeking a Data Scientist to directly support a very successful fundamental equities PM and their expanding team. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing platform at an inflection point and help shape its analytical, data, and AI capabilities from the ground up.

Role Overview

The Data Scientist will work directly with Portfolio Managers across fundamental, quantitative, and event‑driven strategies. This role blends hands‑on analytics, tool‑building, data engineering, and applied AI - supporting both day‑to‑day investment questions and the scaling of firm‑wide research infrastructure. The ideal candidate is technical, collaborative, and energized by a fast‑moving environment where responsibilities evolve as the platform grows.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Partnering & Analytics

  • Collaborate and advise directly with PMs to frame investment questions as structured analytical problems.
  • Build bespoke analyses to support idea validation, factor/driver exploration, and portfolio construction.
  • Provide rapid, high‑quality analytical support for PM‑driven requests.

Tool & Platform Development

  • Develop scalable, reusable research tools, dashboards, and analytical frameworks.
  • Enhance and maintain existing investment analytics infrastructure.
  • Build intuitive tooling that allows PMs to independently explore data and insights.

Data Science & Engineering

  • Work with large, diverse datasets (market data, fundamentals, alternative data, internal sources).
  • Build models, signals, and statistical analyses using modern quantitative techniques.
  • Ensure data quality, robustness, and reproducibility.
  • Partner with engineering teams to productionize analytics when appropriate.

AI & Emerging Technology Integration

  • Research and integrate emerging AI tools.
  • Design prompts and workflows that improve research speed, quality, and efficiency.
  • Build internal tools that leverage AI while adhering to security and governance constraints.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Clearly articulate methods, assumptions, and insights to PMs and senior stakeholders.
  • Document tools, workflows, and best practices for broader adoption.
  • Work cross‑functionally within a multi‑strategy investment environment.

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of full-time experience in data science, quantitative research/analysis from a top hedge fund or trading firm.
  • Top 50 degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a similar quantitative discipline.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and common data science libraries.
  • Experience with financial or market data; equities experience is very much preferred.
  • Proven ability to build tools used by non‑technical end users.
  • Hands‑on experience with AI/LLM tools, including prompt design and workflow integration.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with PMs.
  • Experience supporting multiple PMs or strategies in a platform model is a plus.
  • Familiarity with dashboards, visualization tools, cloud environments, APIs, and production data pipelines.

Why This Role

  • Join an emerging, well‑funded multi‑strategy fund at the ground level.
  • Meaningfully influence the analytical and AI foundation of the firm.
  • Work directly with senior investors in a high‑ownership, low‑bureaucracy environment.
  • A role with defined core responsibilities - but also flexibility to expand based on your strengths as the platform scales.
