Position Summary
The Data Enablement Engineer will serve as a technical partner to internal stakeholders, helping teams maximize the value of the organization's lakehouse and big data ecosystem. This individual will combine deep technical expertise with a customer-focused mindset to troubleshoot production issues, optimize data workloads, and guide users through the adoption of modern data platform capabilities.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting large-scale Spark-based environments, enjoys interacting directly with users, and is passionate about improving developer productivity through training, automation, and operational best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the firm's modern data platform, providing advanced technical support and guidance to internal users
- Troubleshoot production issues across data processing pipelines, compute environments, and analytical workloads
- Partner with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and develop scalable solutions
- Help users transition exploratory notebook-based workflows into maintainable, production-ready pipelines
- Design and recommend efficient compute, storage, and processing patterns to improve performance and reliability
- Deliver technical enablement sessions, workshops, and best practices to drive platform adoption and user success
- Collaborate with platform engineering teams to identify recurring challenges and improve the overall user experience
- Monitor platform health, investigate operational issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to automation, tooling, and documentation that enhance platform usability and supportability
- Advocate for engineering best practices related to testing, deployment, observability, and operational excellence
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience working with large-scale data platforms or data engineering environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark and distributed data processing technologies
- Solid SQL skills and experience working with data warehouses, lakehouse architectures, or analytical platforms
- Experience developing, supporting, and optimizing production data pipelines
- Familiarity with modern data orchestration, CI/CD, and deployment practices
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex data platform or production support issues
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with experience supporting technical users
- Ability to translate user requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions
- Customer-focused mindset with a passion for enablement, education, and knowledge sharing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with managed cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or similar technologies
- Familiarity with lakehouse architectures, data governance, and modern data ecosystem tooling
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale analytics or machine learning platforms
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code, cloud services, or platform engineering concepts
- Experience delivering technical training, workshops, or user enablement programs
- Background in highly collaborative, fast-paced engineering environments where reliability and performance are critical
- Experience working with financial services, quantitative analytics, or other data-intensive industries
