Data Center Technician
A High frequency Trading Firm is Hiring for a Data Center Technician to join their team.
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 Base Salary with a discretionary bonus
This role must sit in the firm's Kings Mountain, NC location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain data center infrastructure, including power systems, cooling, hardware, cabling, tools, and supplies to ensure optimal service availability.
- Gather requirements and plan for new hardware installations, considering physical space, power, cooling, and cabling needs.
- Install and configure infrastructure components such as server cabinets, power distribution units (PDUs), and structured cabling.
- Rack, stack, and cable servers, networking gear, and storage systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues, performing break-fix tasks as needed.
- Conduct initial setup and configuration of network devices and Linux servers using CLI tools and Zero-Touch Provisioning.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure and procedures.
- Collaborate with colocation providers and hardware vendors to address inquiries, resolve issues, and coordinate new deployments.
- Supervise onsite contractors, assigning tasks and verifying completed work.
- Manage shipping, receiving, and inventory of equipment and consumables.
- Perform capacity planning for space, power, cooling, and cabling within the data center.
- Travel occasionally to other data centers or office locations as required.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a data center environment.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Physically capable of performing job duties, including working on ladders and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Deep understanding of cabling standards and media types, with a commitment to high-quality cable management.
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure systems, including electrical, cooling (air and liquid), mechanical, and safety components.
- Proven experience in hardware repair across servers, networking, storage, and infrastructure equipment.
- Familiarity with basic network architecture and topologies.
- Proficient in configuring Cisco and Arista devices via command-line interface.
- Comfortable using Linux command line for system troubleshooting and script execution.
- Programming experience, especially in Python, is a plus.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global team environment.

- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
