Credit Risk Manager

Join a dynamic credit risk team at a global commodities trading firm, where you'll play a key role in assessing and managing counterparty credit exposure. This position offers a unique opportunity to work across diverse markets and contribute to the financial stability of a fast-paced, international business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a small team of credit analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Credit Risk Assessment: Oversee the evaluation of counterparty creditworthiness across physical and financial commodity transactions.
  • Policy Development: Design and implement credit risk policies, procedures, and frameworks aligned with the firm's risk appetite.
  • Limit Setting: Establish and monitor credit limits for counterparties, ensuring adherence to internal guidelines.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Continuously monitor the credit exposure of the firm's trading portfolio and escalate emerging risks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with front office, legal, compliance, and finance teams to ensure integrated risk management.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular credit risk reports to senior management and the board.
  • System Enhancement: Contribute to the development and enhancement of credit risk systems and tools.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in credit risk within commodities trading, banking, or financial services.
  • Leadership: Proven experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of credit risk models, financial statement analysis, and exposure management.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with commodity markets (energy, metals, agriculture) and associated counterparty risks.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; Master's or professional qualification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is a plus.
  • Systems Proficiency: Experience with risk management systems (e.g., Openlink, Endur, SAP, or similar).
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
