Credit Analyst - European Financials
A global financial institution is seeking a Financials Credit Desk Analyst to join its high-performing Front Office Credit business. This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious credit professional to work directly alongside traders, salespeople, and senior analysts on one of the most active and respected desks in Europe.
The Opportunity
In this role, you'll support the European Credit Desk by delivering timely, high‑quality credit analysis across banks, insurers, and other regulated financial institutions. You will form part of a dynamic, fast-paced trading floor environment-providing fundamental insights, monitoring market developments, and helping drive informed risk-taking decisions.
This is an ideal position for someone with 1-5 years of relevant experience looking to accelerate their development and gain deep exposure to institutional markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce clear, concise, and insightful credit analysis on European financial institutions, including capital structure, liquidity, asset quality, and regulatory factors.
- Monitor market-moving news, earnings results, rating actions, and regulatory updates, with rapid communication of implications to the desk.
- Support traders with relative value ideas, thematic research, and event-driven analysis.
- Maintain financial models, conduct peer comparisons, and prepare internal commentary across sectors such as banks, insurance, and specialty finance.
- Collaborate closely with sales, trading, and risk teams to contribute to well-informed decision-making.
- Assist with preparing internal presentations, trade rationales, and sector-level updates.
What We're Looking For
- 1-5 years of experience in credit research, credit ratings, FIG-focused investment banking, risk, or a related analytical role.
- Strong understanding of European financial institutions and their regulatory frameworks (e.g., CRR/CRD, Solvency II, bail-in regimes).
- Solid financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements and regulatory disclosures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills-able to distil complex topics quickly and clearly.
- Highly motivated, detail‑oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- A genuine interest in markets and credit trading.
