Controller
Job Summary:
My client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Controller to join our growing team based in Southlake, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the insurance or financial services industry-preferably within an MGA environment. This position plays a key leadership role in overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls. The successful candidate will also lead the implementation of a new ERP system and drive improvements in financial processes.
The Controller will report directly to the local CFO and maintain a strong working relationship with the CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
- Lead and manage the implementation and migration to a new ERP system, ensuring smooth transition and integration across departments.
- Establish, document, and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
- Partner with senior leadership to develop and monitor key financial metrics and KPIs.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Provide strategic financial insights to support business decisions and growth initiatives.
- Train and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation required.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Industry experience in an MGA, insurance, or financial services organization strongly preferred.
- Strong technical accounting skills with in-depth knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
- Proven experience in ERP implementation and systems integration, specifically with MS Dynamics and other financial systems.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement internal controls and financial processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with mid-to-large ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, Oracle, SAP) is a plus.
