Calypso Analyst / Engineer / Programmer

Role Overview

We are hiring for a Senior Calypso Specialist on behalf of a leading global investment bank. This role sits within the Capital Markets Technology team and will focus on the development, support, and enhancement of Calypso back-office systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Calypso, strong technical or functional capabilities (depending on the role), and a solid understanding of capital markets operations.

There are multiple openings available across Application Support, Software Engineering, and Business Analysis tracks - all centered around the Calypso platform.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance Calypso back-office modules including Settlements, Accounting, Messaging, Reconciliation, and Workflows
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical or functional specifications
  • Develop and maintain custom Calypso components (e.g., Engines, Scheduled Tasks, Swift Messages) using Java and related technologies
  • Manage incidents, change requests, and production releases in a mission-critical trading environment
  • Participate in regulatory reporting initiatives (e.g., MMSR, HRF, NORIA)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts through automation, documentation, and knowledge sharing
  • Engage in project delivery and system upgrades, including testing, deployment, and post-release support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience working with Calypso in a back-office or post-trade environment
  • Strong understanding of financial products (FX, Money Market, Bonds, Repos) and the trade lifecycle
  • Hands-on experience with Calypso modules such as Engines, Events, Filters, Reporting Framework, Transfers, and Accounting
  • For technical roles: Proficiency in Java, SQL, and scripting (e.g., Python, Shell); familiarity with Spring Boot, Docker/Kubernetes is a plus
  • For business analyst roles: Proven ability to gather and document requirements, write functional specs, and support testing
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with global teams
