Business Development Associate
We are partnered with a leading middle-market private equity firm based in California looking to bring on a Business Development Associate to their growing team. This is a high-impact role supporting the firm's proprietary sourcing efforts. You'll work closely with the VP of Business Development and Managing Director to drive deal flow and deepen relationships across core sectors.
Business Development Responsibilities:
- Support trade show preparation, outreach campaigns, and thematic sourcing initiatives
- Conduct market research and identify potential acquisition targets aligned with the firm's investment thesis
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with founders, executives, and industry advisors
- Collaborate with the BD and investment teams to develop sourcing strategies and track pipeline activity
- Help manage CRM data, conference follow-ups, and contact lists to optimize outreach efforts
- Represent the firm at industry events and conferences to expand network and brand visibility
- Contribute to the development of proprietary deal flow by identifying off-market opportunities
- Support add-on acquisition strategies for portfolio companies
Business Development Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or a similar sourcing-focused role
- Strong interest in the firm's core sectors (to be disclosed during initial conversations)
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM and marketing automation tools is a plus
