Associate Technical Product Manager
Role Summary
We are seeking an Associate Product Manager to support internally developed platforms that enable market analysis, commercial activity, and downstream operational processes within a complex, data‑driven environment. This role focuses on improving reliability, usability, and scalability of tools used by quantitative, analytical, and operational teams supporting commodity‑linked activities.
You will work closely with engineering, analytics, and operational stakeholders to translate business workflows into well‑defined product initiatives. The position offers hands‑on ownership, regular interaction with end users, and exposure to systems that operate in real time and at scale.
Responsibilities
Workflow discovery and documentation
- Partner with internal users across analytics, execution support, and operational functions to understand how work is performed today.
- Document processes, dependencies, handoffs, and failure scenarios to uncover inefficiencies and risk.
Process modernization
- Identify manual or error‑prone activities and help design solutions that replace them with durable, observable systems.
- Support efforts to improve data quality, system transparency, and operational resilience.
Product execution
- Manage requirements and priorities for small to mid‑sized initiatives, from intake through delivery.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day execution with software and data engineers, helping remove blockers and clarify scope.
Cross‑team collaboration
- Align with platform, data, and infrastructure teams to ensure solutions follow shared standards and scale appropriately.
- Communicate progress, trade‑offs, and risks clearly to stakeholders.
Continuous improvement
- Develop deep familiarity with existing tools and proactively suggest enhancements based on user feedback and observed usage patterns.
- Contribute to iterative delivery cycles and incremental product improvement.
Background & Skills
- Experience in a product‑focused, analytical, or technical coordination role (e.g., product management, technical program management, business systems analysis, or market analytics).
- Comfort engaging with technical concepts such as structured data, application integrations, and cloud‑based platforms.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical partners.
- Experience working in environments that prioritize rapid feedback and incremental delivery.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Exposure to interface design concepts or collaboration with design teams is a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Work in commodities, energy, or other data‑intensive financial or commercial domains.
- Familiarity with North American energy markets or physically settled instruments.
