About the Team
The Investment Accounting function sits within Corporate Finance and is responsible for the accounting, reporting, and control of a large and complex invested asset portfolio. Assets include fixed income securities, equities, loans, and alternative investments, as well as derivatives used for risk management purposes.
The team partners closely with investment teams, finance leadership, FP&A, systems, and external auditors, and plays a key role in financial close, external reporting, regulatory filings, accounting policy implementation, and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and support monthly and quarterly close activities related to invested assets, ensuring accuracy across multiple legal entities and accounting bases
- Prepare and analyze investment-related cash flow activity and supporting schedules
- Support the preparation of external financial disclosures related to investments, including financial statement footnotes and management discussion materials
- Assist with statutory and regulatory investment reporting, including schedules and exhibits required by insurance regulators
- Serve as a key point of contact for accounting matters related to investment activity, working with business unit and corporate stakeholders
- Partner across teams to evaluate new investment transactions or structures, ensuring proper accounting treatment under both GAAP and insurance statutory frameworks
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, systems enhancements, and control documentation
- Support leadership with ad‑hoc analysis and reporting requests related to the investment portfolio
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, or a related role
- Strong understanding of investment products, such as fixed income, equity securities, loans, and alternative investments
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and insurance statutory accounting and reporting as it relates to invested assets
- Experience supporting financial statement disclosures and regulatory reporting
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and work comfortably within a large, matrixed organization
- High level of initiative, organization, and ownership
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
Location & Compensation
This role is based in the New York / New Jersey area and follows a primarily in‑office hybrid model to support collaboration and team engagement.
- Base salary range: $98,000 - $122,000
- Bonus eligible, based on company and individual performance
