Asset Manager (Distressed RMBS)
Title: Asset Management Associate/Sr. Associate
Location: Dallas
This role will support the oversight and coordination of third‑party servicers across default‑related servicing functions, with a primary focus on loss mitigation, servicing operations, title resolution, and property‑level strategy. The position will also assist with collateral management activities, including the holding, assignment, and transfer of mortgage loans and REO assets throughout the asset lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of default servicing practices and applicable state and federal regulations. This individual will work closely with internal investment and asset management teams to support pre‑acquisition and post‑transaction diligence efforts, as well as coordinate with external vendors to ensure accurate and timely documentation across servicing platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide portfolio‑level oversight to enhance asset performance, develop effective strategies, and optimize economic outcomes
- Identify and assess diligence‑related risks associated with new transactions, including title, collateral, servicing practices, and property‑specific issues
- Review assets that meet repurchase or reprice criteria; consolidate and document findings and coordinate with internal stakeholders and counterparties as needed
- Support the management of third‑party vendors and servicers to ensure required collateral documentation is in place for acquisition and disposition activity, including monitoring assignment chains and execution timelines
- Proactively manage title exceptions and assist in determining appropriate curative strategies
- Assist with budgeting and strategy development for escalated or complex assets
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service‑level agreements (SLAs), and drive resolution of items that fall outside established thresholds
Qualifications:
- 3-6 years of experience in direct mortgage servicing, with experience in foreclosures, default, or loss mitigation
- Exposure to a range of loan structures and asset types is beneficial but not required
- Familiarity with institutional mortgage servicing platforms and data systems used to track loan performance and documentation
- Solid understanding of loan collateral and legal documentation, including core mortgage instruments, title materials, and transfer documentation
