VP, AML Model Developer

A leading commercial bank is seeking a Vice President to lead the development and enhancement of models used in financial crime detection, particularly within BSA/AML operations. This role focuses on building and tuning predictive models using Python and advanced statistical techniques such as regression analysis, clustering, and time series modeling. The analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement models that improve operational efficiency and risk identification, while ensuring alignment with model governance standards. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential for presenting findings and defending modeling decisions to internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine AML models using Python and statistical methods, including regression and unsupervised learning techniques.
  • Document model development decisions and defend methodologies to model governance and compliance teams.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement models and identify opportunities for system and process improvements.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in model development or statistical analysis within financial services, with a focus on AML or fraud.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience applying statistical modeling techniques in production environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage ambiguity.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and experience working with large datasets and data warehouses.
