Valuation Associate
The client is a leading provider of specialty professional and advisory services, including forensic accounting and litigation support, bankruptcy and restructuring, transaction support services, retained executive searches, and compliance risk, and resilience consulting.
The client works with law firms, lenders, private equity sponsors, and companies of all types on complex business challenges such as pursuing a fraud investigation or corporate litigation, planning and executing a major acquisition or divestiture, or managing through a business crisis or bankruptcy. The client employs approximately 200 team members located across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
They are seeking a full-time Valuation Associate in their New York office.
Summary: Responsibilities include financial analytics such as financial statement trending, comparable company selection using Capital IQ and other databases, economic trend and industry research in connection with business valuations, calculating economic damages and lost profits, litigation support, intellectual property valuation and infringement damages, and restructuring and solvency analyses.
Responsibilities:
- Analysis of operational and financial activity and trends in complex business valuations for disputed valuations, transactional, solvency opinion, fairness opinion and financial reporting
- Gather and analyze market data, financial statements, and industry information to support valuation conclusions
- Apply analysis to economic damage cases involving lost profits
- Conduct valuation database searches to assess and select comparable companies
- Perform data analytics relevant to the investigative issues
- Prepare schedules, tables, and charts to summarize financial analysis and findings
- Support senior team members in client engagements and business development activities
- Stay current on industry trends, valuation methodologies, and regulatory developments
- Work in a team environment on multiple assignments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- CFA, ASA, or other relevant certifications are a plus
- Position requires 2-5 years of work experience in finance and/or business valuations
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and valuation methodologies
- Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools (Excel, PowerPoint, financial databases)
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
- Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to synthesize complex financial information and communicate findings clearly
- Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Team player with strong interpersonal abilities
- Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Some travel may be required
