The Role
We are looking for a Python Developer with around 4+ years of professional experience to join our technology team in Amsterdam. You will work closely with traders, quantitative analysts, and fellow engineers to develop and improve applications that support energy trading operations.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building scalable systems, improving automation, processing market data, and delivering tools that have a direct impact on trading performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and services.
- Build data pipelines for processing large volumes of market and trading data.
- Develop tools used by traders and analysts to support decision-making.
- Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Work with real-time and historical data from energy markets.
- Collaborate closely with trading, quantitative, and commercial teams.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and software design discussions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and development practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong Python development skills.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices, testing, and CI/CD.
- Experience building APIs and backend services.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is beneficial.
- Experience working with Docker and containerised environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience within energy trading, commodities, financial services, or capital markets.
- Knowledge of power, gas, renewable energy, or electricity markets.
- Experience with data engineering and ETL pipelines.
