Reinsurance Accounting Manager
- Oversee the recording and reconciliation of ceded and assumed reinsurance premiums, losses, and commissions.
- Ensure timely settlement of reinsurance recoverables and payables.
- Prepare and review reinsurance-related journal entries and schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Analyze reinsurance results and variances, providing insights to senior management.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance controls.
- Supervise and mentor reinsurance accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
- Coordinate workload and ensure deadlines are met.
- Work closely with actuarial, finance, and reinsurance operations teams to ensure accurate data flow.
- Liaise with brokers and reinsurers to resolve discrepancies and maintain strong relationships
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in insurance or reinsurance accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles, as well as Schedule F.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with reinsurance systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
